DIY Champagne and Prosecco Bar - perfect cocktail idea for a Christmas or New Years Party!

We are no strangers to prosecco and sparkling beverages in these parts, it is one of our favourite things to consume during the holiday season! Last December we enjoyed many white cranberry mimosas
We wanted to come up with another festive prosecco beverage this year, and after throwing around a few different ideas we decided that we couldn't just pick one! We decided for our Christmas Craft and Cocktail party (post coming soon!) we would create a DIY champagne and prosecco bar for guests to come up with their own concoctions.

What we used:

Liquors:
  • Different types of prosecco, champagne, moscato, and cava
  • Rosemary & Grapefruit bitters, Angostura bitters
  • Other yummy options would be St. Germain, Creme de Cassis, Limoncello
Juices:
  • White cranberry cocktail
  • Blood orange soda
  • Elderflower soda
Fruit:
  • Pomegranate seeds
  • Mini mandarin pieces
  • Frozen cranberries
Other mixings:
  • Mint leaves
  • Blackberry sorbet
  • Mini candy canes
  • Gummi bears
Since you are mixing in lots of additional flavours to the bubbly, there is really no need for high quality types. An average bottle of prosecco can become extra tasty with the addition of some mixings!

The DIY prosecco bar was such a hit at our ladies night in, everyone had so much fun trying different combinations of drinks. One of our favorites was dubbed the "holly berry" which was prosecco with pomegranate seeds and mint. Another favorite was mixing the blood orange soda with champagne and mandarin slices. A classy mimosa!

We thought the candy canes would make a cute garnish to the glass, but surprisingly we actually enjoyed the minty flavor that they added to moscato.

Near the end of the night we pulled out the blackberry sorbet for dessert cocktails, and added a scoop to each glass of cava. Make sure you add the sorbet AFTER the glass has been filled or you will get a fizzy mess!

We will definitely be recreating the DIY champagne and prosecco bar, we would highly recommend this for any holiday occasion! How fun would this be for a New Years party?
