meet.make.crochet moose.

Crafting and crocheting has been quiet in these parts as of late.... somehow life always steps up and gets in the way! Hopefully we will get back in the swing of things soon, just in time for Christmas!

I knew I wanted to make a crochet animal for my friend Lindsay's little boy Jack, but was having trouble deciding on a pattern. When I came across the book This Moose Belongs To Me by Oliver Jeffers I knew I had to get it for Jack and make a moose to go with it!

I searched around for a pattern that I liked, and came across this pattern on Ravelry. It had the exact look I wanted, and it is a free pattern, so I got started. The only changes I made to the pattern are that I only added two prongs to the antlers, and I made yarn eyes instead of plastic ones.

I was a bit worried about the moose standing up with the top heavy antlers, but I had no troubles getting him to stay upright. I named him Marcel after the moose in the book, and was so happy with how he turned out.

I think I might do some more book/crochet animal combo gifts in the future. Any suggestions for some great children's books that could have a corresponding animal?
