As we've probably mentioned more than once.. there has been many new additions to the world lately, including my new baby niece Rose! I had previously made my first knit baby blanket for her brother Luke when he was born, so of course I had to keep the tradition afloat! So here comes another addition to our baby blanket series!
Rose Elizabeth was born July 30th to my brother Matt and sister in-law Angela! In advance, we knew the two of them were having a baby girl, but we didn't discover her name until her birth. Simply wonderful.
I decided (obviously) to go with something girly! So I went with purple, blue, green, yellow and PINK colours for her blanket. Again...somehow they ended up looking like easter colours like my hexagon table runner, but I went with it!
I discovered the Mitered Granny Square pattern from Sara's Merry Messy Life blog when I made sweet lil'Pom Pom Toque.
In the end, I had made 16 squares. A perfect size for baby Rose. I started by crocheting each square separately, and then attached them together using the slip stitch method. It's smooth on the front side, and a little bumpy on the back. Babies like texture right?
After the squares were secured together, I finished with a border of two rows of yellow, pink and purple granny stitches, and a final border of a green slip stitch.
I really love creating something homemade for new parents. I have a great time thinking what kind of pattern they would like, or what colour combo suits the family!
Welcome to the world Rose!
